The Situation: 

In 2008, and again in 2012, organizers of the US Olympic Swim Trials turned to VStar to help roll out the red carpet for the athletes, their families and fans at Aqua Zone, a free, interactive fan event held over eight days of swimming competition at the Qwest Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Starting with a footprint of 100,000 square feet, VStar was charged with creating a sell-in package for sponsors, including logos, graphics, exhibits, and an encompassing themed décor to unify the event with the Olympics and USA Swimming.

The Solution: 

As the event was developed, and as sponsors began coming on board, VStar designers developed an Aqua Zone-branded graphic identity that created a cohesive and unified look over 100,000 square feet of exhibit space. From the venue’s exterior graphics, to a scenic main entrance that gave way to an interior space with branded signage, ambient décor, and a performance/autograph stage, sponsors had the opportunity to be part of a unified, yet distinctive blend of attractions. Amanda Bryant, a development consultant for USA Swimming, was familiar with VStar’s work for the NBA, and knew they could design and execute a seamlessly thematic event that also included great promotional opportunities for the event sponsors, recalling that, “Once our sponsors started to understand who VStar was, and their capacity to produce great things, they joined in. It allowed us to create a consistent look and feel for the entire 100,000 square foot area.”
