The Adventures of Mr. Potato Head

The Adventures of Mr. Potato Head

Client:
Betty Brinn Children’s Museum of Milwaukee
The Situation:

The Betty Brinn Children’s Museum of Milwaukee developed the idea of bringing the venerable Mr. Potato Head to their exhibit floor and then on tour in “The Adventures of Mr. Potato Head.” Mr. Potato Head is a much-loved toy brand owned by the Playskool division of Hasbro Toys, with whom the museum had a long-standing relationship. While MPH is a significant cultural icon, a live, interactive brand experience had never been developed, and VStar’s experience in bringing branded properties to life was extremely critical in satisfying the needs of both licensee and licensor.

The Solution:

VStar designers and the Betty Brinn exhibit developers worked together to convert the concepts ideas into practical, durable, on-brand exhibit areas. The exhibit was sufficiently large so that each of its four distinct areas could be a stand-alone attraction. But, if a particular museum’s footprint was too small to accommodate the entire exhibit, it could be broken down into smaller areas, each with its own reading/resource area and thematic interactives. This exhibit had many layers of activities, requiring a vast amount of scenic painting and a broad array of scenic techniques. One key to the touring success for this national exhibit was VEE’s experience in developing touring attractions that allow for user-friendliness, simple set-up for museum staffers, high-durability, low-maintenance, and easy roll-in packaging.
